In 2011, the 250th Anniversary Steering Committee, a broad-based committee of students, administrators, faculty and alumni was convened, charged with “overseeing the development and implementation of a range of activities, events, and materials to reflect and showcase the University’s distinctive history, character, culture, traditions, and future, engaging alumni, faculty, students, and their families, staff, and communities and partners here in Rhode Island and around the world.”

Anniversary in Review

Over 444 days, thousands of revelers from around the world came together to celebrate Brown’s 250-year history.

Opening Celebration

Kickoff events of the 15-month semiquincentenary celebration brought together middle schoolers, community members, alumni, students, faculty and staff in early March, 2014.

Fall Celebration

On September 27 - 28, 2014, Brown welcomed thousands of alumni from around the world back to College Hill to join the campus community for the 250th Anniversary Fall Celebration.

Closing Celebration

Sunday, May 24, 2015, marks the closing of Brown's 250th Anniversary.
