“This place makes me want to sing…The development of the Granoff Center has been brought about by a powerful yet simple principle—that when we share our intellectual capital and our resources, we can achieve something quite different than that which we can do alone.”
–Richard Fishman, building champion, Director of the Creative Arts Council, Professor of Visual Arts (2001)
Opened in 2001, the $40-million Perry
and Marty Granoff Center for the
Creative Arts features a 218-person
theater, recording and production
studios, media labs, gallery space and
an outdoor amphitheater. Home of the
Creative Arts Council, the zinc-clad
building provides spaces for
interdisciplinary collaboration,
connection and creativity. Activities
are visible from the outside through the
building’s glass-walled side. A green
roof, along with other sustainable
features earned the building a LEED Gold
rating, Brown’s first for new
construction.
