Assistant Dean of the College
Mary Grace Almandrez became the Director of the Third World Center and Assistant Dean of the College in July 2011. Uniquely positioned as serving both on the executive leadership group of the Division of Campus Life and as a dean in the College, her work facilitates opportunities for students to connect their curricular with co-curricular scholarship, embrace diversity, and be agents of change in their respective communities. She works closely with students, faculty, alumni, and colleagues to create and implement initiatives that facilitate an inclusive campus environment, as well as build a sense of community among students of color and their allies. Prior to her arrival at Brown University, she founded multicultural centers at three private, liberal arts institutions. Her professional experience in multicultural affairs includes co-curricular programming, student leadership training, campus climate assessment, and alumni relations. Mary Grace earned her Ed.D. in organization and leadership from the University of San Francisco, M.S. in human resources development from McDaniel College, and B.A. in sociology from the University of San Diego.
